Just a week away.. launch of Dalston People's Festival

If you want a stall at the community launch on Saturday 13 July, then contact Andrea Enisuoh, andrea@hackneyunites.org.uk

We have a final planning meeting this coming Monday (8 July) at the Trinity Centre in Beechwood Road Dalston (the Trinity Centre is opposite the school at the Forrest Road end of Beechwood Road).

We also need volunteers to help with stewarding on the day. If you can help, please either come along on Monday, or reply to this email.

The Dalston People’s Festival will be the biggest and most ambitious event Hackney Unites has planned to date, and to be honest, we are feeling stretched. If you can contribute in some small way to making this festival a success, then you will help spread the load.

Finally,
Please do not forget the closing and perhaps the most important session of the festival, an afternoon on Saturday 20 July where the community comes together to identify a common ‘agenda’ or vision of Dalston over which we will organise in the next couple of years.

If you care about the future of Dalston join us for a discussion of ‘Dalston Futures’. After the fun of the week long festival, this will be an opportunity for us to gather as a community and to discuss what our priorities are.

Whether you are concerned about affordable housing, celebrating our diverse cultures, the night time economy youth unemployment, cycle routes, the Peace Mural, or mental health in the community: if you think that acting together we could make a difference, then this event is a MUST for you.

We intend that the legacy of the Dalston People’s Festival will be a new local community organisation which unites the diversity of Dalston People and is capable of creating positive change in our community.

You can register to attend the event herehttp://dalstonfutures.eventbrite.com/

Many thanks for your continued support, please help publicise this event, but circulating this using twitter, facebook etc and speaking to friends and neighbours.
